78:1What are they asking one another about?

78:2About the Great Event.

78:3About which they disagree.

78:4Surely, they will find out.

78:5Most certainly, they will find out.

78:6Did We not make the earth a cradle?

78:7And the mountains pegs?

78:8And created you in pairs?

78:9And made your sleep for rest?

78:10And made the night a cover?

78:11And made the day for livelihood?

78:12And built above you seven strong ones?

78:13And placed a blazing lamp?

78:14And brought down from the clouds pouring water?

78:15To produce with it grains and vegetation?

78:16And luxuriant gardens?

78:17The Day of Sorting has been appointed.

78:18The Day when the Trumpet is blown, and you will come in droves.

78:19And the sky is opened up, and becomes gateways.

78:20And the mountains are set in motion, and become a mirage.

78:21Hell is lying in ambush.

78:22For the oppressors, a destination.

78:23Where they will remain for eons.

78:24They will taste therein neither coolness, nor drink.

78:25Except boiling water, and freezing hail.

78:26A fitting requital.

78:27For they were not anticipating any reckoning.

78:28And they denied Our signs utterly.

78:29But We have enumerated everything in writing.

78:30So taste! We will increase you only in suffering.

78:31But for the righteous there is triumph.

78:32Gardens and vineyards.

78:33And splendid spouses, well matched.

78:34And delicious drinks.

78:35They will hear therein neither gossip, nor lies.

78:36A reward from your Lord, a fitting gift.

78:37Lord of the heavens and the earth, and everything between them—The Most Merciful—none can argue with Him.

78:38On the Day when the Spirit and the angels stand in row. They will not speak, unless it be one permitted by the Most Merciful, and he will say what is right.

78:39That is the Day of Reality. So whoever wills, let him take a way back to his Lord.

78:40We have warned you of a near punishment—the Day when a person will observe what his hands have produced, and the faithless will say, “O, I wish I were dust.”
