56:1When the inevitable occurs.
56:2Of its occurrence, there is no denial.
56:3Bringing low, raising high.
56:4When the earth is shaken with a shock.
56:5And the mountains are crushed and crumbled.
56:6And they become scattered dust.
56:7And you become three classes.
56:8Those on the Right—what of those on the Right?
56:9And those on the Left—what of those on the Left?
56:10And the forerunners, the forerunners.
56:11Those are the nearest.
56:12In the Gardens of Bliss.
56:13A throng from the ancients.
56:14And a small band from the latecomers.
56:15On luxurious furnishings.
56:16Reclining on them, facing one another.
56:17Serving them will be immortalized youth.
56:18With cups, pitchers, and sparkling drinks.
56:19Causing them neither headache, nor intoxication.
56:20And fruits of their choice.
56:21And meat of birds that they may desire.
56:22And lovely companions.
56:23The likenesses of treasured pearls.
56:24As a reward for what they used to do.
56:25Therein they will hear no nonsense, and no accusations.
56:26But only the greeting: “Peace, peace.”
56:27And those on the Right—what of those on the Right?
56:28In lush orchards.
56:29And sweet-smelling plants.
56:30And extended shade.
56:31And outpouring water.
56:32And abundant fruit.
56:33Neither withheld, nor forbidden.
56:34And uplifted mattresses.
56:35We have created them of special creation.
56:36And made them virgins.
56:37Tender and un-aging.
56:38For those on the Right.
56:39A throng from the ancients.
56:40And a throng from the latecomers.
56:41And those on the Left—what of those on the Left?
56:42Amid searing wind and boiling water.
56:43And a shadow of thick smoke.
56:44Neither cool, nor refreshing.
56:45They had lived before that in luxury.
56:46And they used to persist in immense wrongdoing.
56:47And they used to say, “When we are dead and turned into dust and bones, are we to be resurrected?
56:48And our ancient ancestors too?”
56:49Say, “The first and the last.
56:50Will be gathered for the appointment of a familiar Day.”
56:51Then you, you misguided, who deny the truth.
56:52Will be eating from the Tree of Bitterness.
56:53Will be filling your bellies with it.
56:54Will be drinking on top of it boiling water.
56:55Drinking like thirsty camels drink.
56:56That is their hospitality on the Day of Retribution.
56:57We created you—if only you would believe!
56:58Have you seen what you ejaculate?
56:59Is it you who create it, or are We the Creator?
56:60We have decreed death among you, and We will not be outstripped.
56:61In replacing you with your likes, and transforming you into what you do not know.
56:62You have known the first formation; if only you would remember.
56:63Have you seen what you cultivate?
56:64Is it you who make it grow, or are We the Grower?
56:65If We will, We can turn it into rubble; then you will lament.
56:66“We are penalized.
56:67No, we are being deprived.”
56:68Have you seen the water you drink?
56:69Is it you who sent it down from the clouds, or are We the Sender?
56:70If We will, We can make it salty. Will you not be thankful?
56:71Have you seen the fire you kindle?
56:72Is it you who produce its tree, or are We the Producer?
56:73We have made it a reminder, and a comfort for the users.
56:74So glorify the Name of your Great Lord.
56:75I swear by the locations of the stars.
56:76It is an oath, if you only knew, that is tremendous.
56:77It is a noble Quran.
56:78In a well-protected Book.
56:79None can grasp it except the purified.
56:80A revelation from the Lord of the Worlds.
56:81Is it this discourse that you take so lightly?
56:82And you make it your livelihood to deny it?
56:83So when it has reached the throat.
56:84As you are looking on.
56:85We are nearer to it than you are, but you do not see.
56:86If you are not held to account.
56:87Then bring it back, if you are truthful.
56:88But if he is one of those brought near.
56:89Then happiness, and flowers, and Garden of Delights.
56:90And if he is one of those on the Right.
56:91Then, “Peace upon you,” from those on the Right.
56:92But if he is one of the deniers, the mistaken.
56:93Then a welcome of Inferno.
56:94And burning in Hell.
56:95This is the certain truth.
56:96So glorify the Name of your Lord, the Magnificent
