Creation of Trees and Forests

The Quran often draws parallels between the creation of trees and spiritual truths. In Surah Ibrahim [14:24-25], the metaphor of a good word being like a good tree with firm roots and yielding its fruit every season by Allah’s permission is used to describe the strength and benefits of faith. Moreover, Surah An-Nahl [16:10-11] illustrates Allah’s provision of water for the growth of trees and plants, which ultimately produce fruit as a sustenance for human beings. The ayahs indicate the careful nurturing and ceaseless cycles governing the life of trees and forests.

Do you not see how God presents a parable? A good word is like a good tree—its root is firm, and its branches are in the sky.

It yields its fruits every season by the will of its Lord. God presents the parables to the people, so that they may reflect.

It is He Who sends down for you from the sky water. From it is drink, and with it grows vegetation for grazing.

And He produces for you grains with it, and olives, and date-palms, and grapes, and all kinds of fruits. Surely in that is a sign for people who think.
