Progeny of Adam

Quranic verses refer to the children of Adam, which includes all of humanity, as inheritors of the earth. Mankind is dignified and given a place of honor among Allah’s creations, implying a guardianship role over the earth and its resources. Humanity is reminded of its common ancestry and the trust bestowed by Allah to live a life of righteousness, justice, and stewardship on the planet.

۞ وَلَقَدْ كَرَّمْنَا بَنِىٓ ءَادَمَ وَحَمَلْنَٰهُمْ فِى ٱلْبَرِّ وَٱلْبَحْرِ وَرَزَقْنَٰهُم مِّنَ ٱلطَّيِّبَٰتِ وَفَضَّلْنَٰهُمْ عَلَىٰ كَثِيرٍۢ مِّمَّنْ خَلَقْنَا تَفْضِيلًۭا

We have honored the Children of Adam, and carried them on land and sea, and provided them with good things, and greatly favored them over many of those We created.

۞ أَلَمْ أَعْهَدْ إِلَيْكُمْ يَٰبَنِىٓ ءَادَمَ أَن لَّا تَعْبُدُوا۟ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنَ ۖ إِنَّهُۥ لَكُمْ عَدُوٌّۭ مُّبِينٌۭ

Did I not covenant with you, O Children of Adam, that you shall not serve the devil? That he is your sworn enemy?
