The Breath of Life and Free Will

The Quran’s references to the breath of life breathed into Adam underscore the concept of the human soul imbued with life and free will. This element of creation is pivotal, as it grants humans the capacity for choice, reflection, and spiritual connection. Free will is a cornerstone of the human experience, providing the basis for moral accountability and the potential for growth in righteousness and piety.

“When I have formed him, and breathed into him of My spirit, fall down prostrating before him.”

When I have formed him, and breathed into him of My spirit, fall prostrate before him.

We created man from a liquid mixture, to test him; and We made him hearing and seeing.
